covers
a dude called XMark(external link) made a cover of this song. and then another dude called Josiah Tobin(external link) cast some mixing magick spells on the song. karaoke version was released to the public, so i decided to record my own vocals for it, to try it out you see. and that's what you hear here.
quite faithful to the original. i did leave out synths though (because i'm lazy), and my ending is different. the solo is, too, because learning all of it would have taken too long. maybe not my best mixing job, but all in all i'm almost pleased with this, at least for the time being. the guitars are somewhat out of tune with each other, but don't let that (or other issues there might or might not be in the song) bother you.
after hearing my Tenacious D campfire cover a friend requested that I cover this song in the same style. and I did! the same shitty acoustic guitar with the same old strings was used... and again for effects i used only a bit of EQ and some limiting.
made for a campfire song thread on vgmix 2.5 "mental hospital" forum. played on a crappy nylon-stringed acoustic with terrible intonation and some really really old strings. vocals suck partly. I spent a total of probably two hours learning and recording. only effects used are a bit of EQ and some limiting.
old stuff, old stuff... today I'd do things differently but I still think I did an acceptable job overall.
