Quite the Adventure
Entered June 2013 DoD (free month) with this one. My first DoD in years maybe. Got third place. Which was fine. The song is indeed what the title claims, quite the adventure.

This one first appeared on a compilation in 2007, so it’s not exactly new. But it hasn’t been heard elsewhere and I thought it was about time to let everyone hear it. It’s old and the mixing and singing leave something to be desired, but I do believe it’s not completely without its charm.
Psst! Don’t tell anyone, but the lyrics were actually inspired by the TV show Supernatural. It was some specific episode, but I forget.
Days have passed
Since I heard your frightened scream
Those days have felt like years
No more can I hear you speak
No more can you listen to me
I’m all alone again
How can I live
When the only thing I have left
Is the image of you?
How can I die
When I know there’s no afterlife?
There is no paradise
Years have passed
Since I found your lifless body
Those years have felt like an eternity
No more can I hear them speak
No more can they listen to me
Grief has taken me over
How can I feel
When the only thing I feel
Is the pain of losing you?
How can I dream
When every time I close my eyes I see you?
Like an arrow shot through my heart
This love kills me
And it’s tearing me apart
I’m one with misery
How can I cry
When my tears have run dry
So long ago
How can I be
When it’s been so long since I
Drew my last breath
A cover I did for a Halloween compilation organized by the awesome VikingGuitar that features all kinds of creepy Halloweeny stuff.
I did this one for an OCR disk covering the music of the Mega Man X series. Originally done in 2010(!), it was only released two years after because it was such a big project overall. Anyway, releasing this now a year after that on my own site. You can check out the whole disk here.

A legendary Finnish song by a legendary Finnish artist that I covered for my girlfriend-at-the-time. It was not by request, btw. Karaoke version also available here.

My entry to August 2010 Death Slam. Made over a weekend from scratch. Inspired and influenced by, and based on the movie Hellraiser.
No! Don’t touch it! It’s dangerous! It opens doors
To the pleasures of Heaven or Hell
You think you’ve gone to your limits? Well you have not
The Cenobites will show you a brand new experience:
Pain and pleasure indivisible
You’ll want more until your last breath is gone
Those hungry chains of Hell, they feel no remorse
Commanded by Pinhead, they’ll tear you apart
CHORUS
Come join us in the realm of pain
Open the box, open the door
Your life was meaningless anyway
Welcome to your own personal Hell
Explorers, in the further regions of experience
Demons to some, and angels to others
You solved the box, we came, now you must come with us!
Come on, taste our pleasures!
CHORUS x2
YOUR SUFFERING WILL BE LEGENDARY!
My PUNCHFEST entry from last night. Raped “At Zanarkand” for Demonstray. And that’s pretty much it. Besides learning the song beforehand, I spent 3.5 hours on this.
My first ever PUNCHFEST entry. For PUNCHFEST X, held July 3rd.
This is a revised version, however, and not the one I had in the PUNCHFEST. I made some changes in the drums mostly, re-recorded some guitars that bothered me. Stuff like that. There’s still stuff to fix that I’m not going to fix, so here it is. Enjoy!
My cover/arrangement of the Llamarada theme from the game Lords of Thunder. Nice game and it has a kickass soundtrack too. Unfortunately the mixing is pretty bad, and then so… ansgaros to the rescue! Well, it’s not a 1:1 cover by any means, I gave it my own flavor I do believe, but enjoy anyway! It’s mostly a pretty straightforward cover. It was named by a friend.
Made for the June 2010 duel at Dwelling of Duels.
There is a video of me playing this song on YouTube.
Like it says, this one’s actually a re-mixed version. The original sounds so very bad. As the story goes, someone wanted to make Rock Band charts for this song and asked for separate tracks. I didn’t feel comfortable giving them the original mix, so I re-did the mixing and mastering. And that’s pretty much it. Sounds a lot better than the 2006 original though.
When I first heard the Silent Hill 4 OST I said to myself: “I’m going to make a power metal cover of this song! …..one day.” Then, 18 months later, when I saw that this month’s (September 2006) theme at DoD was Silent Hill I knew what had to be done. And did it. With this song I also secured my first DoD win!
The original mix can be found in the Treasury section though, if you really want to hear it.
My proper entry for the Ys DoD. Turned out just fine in my opinion.
Man, I really should write these writeup things right after I finish the songs, when I still have something to say about them (see below for another example)…
This was my alt entry for the Ys DoD. An arrangement of the shop theme.

This was originally going to be a 10 minute epic medley of songs from (sidescrolling) games I played when I was a young boy. In the end I decided to drop half of the songs to have at least some musical coherency in it. I believe that choice was the right one.
This song has a fade out. Some people hate fade outs unconditionally, some don’t mind them. When used correctly, I don’t mind.

My alternate entry to the MAGFest 7/sidescroller month DoD. Someone requested Thunder Force 3 music from me so I did this.
I think this turned out a bit weird. I couldn’t decide which one I’d do, Cyclops or Storm, so I did a medley. And I liked that Juggernaut ending song so much that I wanted to get that in this too. I was going for a “lighter” sound overall than my usual, so I dialed down the gain on the rhythm guitars to almost 0. See if you notice any difference.
I entered September’s superhero DoD with this song, and much to my surprise I placed first.
P.S. SnappleMan made me do it.

My last month’s DoD entry. I must have done something right, since it was a free month and I won. And by a decent margin, too: I got 85 votes and M-H in second place got 51. Yeah, overall I guess it’s my best VG arrangement this far. It’s also my longest song to date.
